Questions About LL110 Boiler Install

Greetings. I am installing a new Leisure Line 110 Boiler. I was wondering if someone can suggest good brands/types of hardware that should be used in conjunction with the installation. I want to do it once and do it right so I would rather spend a little more on the parts and know the system will be reliable. I need some recommendations on these since the plumbing stores have several brands to choose from.
1. Water feed backflow valve and pressure regulator on the feed water side?
2. Expansion tank. How do I size it? Suggested brands?
3. What is the best system to get air out of the heating system? Where is the best place to install it?
4. Can someone suggest a brand of mixing valve for DHW? I looked at one of the online plumbing stores and there were like 10 to choose from. Can anyone suggest a reliable one or one they had good luck with?
5. Can I use galvanized pipe or should I use black iron pipe? I'm just thinking about galvanized to reduce corrosion?
6. Should I use regular solder or silver solder on the copper connections?
7. Should I use a specific brand of pipe sealant on the threaded pipe?
Any other tips/suggestions??

7. Should I use a specific brand of pipe sealant on the threaded pipe? I use Blue Monster tape and True Blue dope

3: Axeman recommends an installation method for a standard EX tank and for a diaprhagm tank. Follow their instructions, and you mount the air vent directly above the diaphragm expansion tank (most tanks screw into the air vent).
5; you cannot use galvanized. If you are going with a non-copper, non- pex it is black iron.
I'll get the name of the backflow valve and the pipe dope I used, both are common at the Home Depot type stores. Someone had good advice here, 3 times around with thread tape and then the pipe dope. Tighten like a mother and you should be fine.
There are numerous calculators online for sizing the expansion tank. You'll need to measure a bit, but there's a fudge factor built into the calculation. And like was recommended to me, you can't have one that is too big, so if you are in doubt, go up a size.

For feed valves and back flow preventers Look at "watts" brand. Home Depot has them and they are pretty reliable. As far as expansion tanks search for "Amtrol" expansion tanks. They have a size calculator on there site to help guide you. Use rector seal #5 as a pipe dope after tapingit with teflon tape first. Blue monster dope isn't too bad either. Use regular lead free solder. Lenox brand runs really nice and use some good flux paste. You want t yelowish/amber color paste not the white stuff.

This can be a very interesting project - always more fun if you understand as much or more than the folks you interview

here is something far more appealing -- others call them comic books - but many more have found them exactly what they needed to get a great install
Here is the best advice I can give you - Buy - rent - or borrow these books - Sit down and READ them and then lets chat. This is likely the best 80 bucks you will ever spend on your hobby!
