I have the boiler, I don't think they named it.

Most of the piping is done, just have to hook it into the supply and return at this point (waiting on my deaerator, drat you Pex supply!) and finish tying in the hot water coil. I have someone who is going to hook up the oil lines to the oil burner (which is what I'll test fire the boiler with) and help me trouble shoot the electrical.

If all goes well (and 60+ year old black iron fittings cooperate) I should be turning it on Sunday sometime.

The plan is to buy some bagged coal next week and learn how to run the stoker, then convert over to all coal once it get's into late October, early November ( temps here will be in the 70's for the next week or two).

That gives me a chance to build my coal bin, then get a delivery of a few tons of coal.

I'm anxious and excited.

Yes, don't forget your digital camera. A hot wrench will prove useful when you go to work on those old threaded connections. Hopefully you don't have to cut or break them apart.

Everyone has a different preference for pipe dope, but I have never had a leak with 3 wraps of teflon tape + GRRIP pipe dope. If you decide to use GRRIP, wear gloves!

Hey kstills good deal……….I plan on a 110K install next heating season. I'm convinced it’s the way to go for me. Did you pick up the easy clean out option?

I have a Harman TLC 2000 hand fired in the family room and it does a good job heating the 1st floor upstairs gets a bit chilly. I will be replacing my hand fired HS-Tarm 202 with the LL 110K.

Last winter I never fired up the Tarm or my 32 year old Weil-McLain DHW comes from my Rheem 50 gal Marathon. Next heating season I will feed the output of the DHW coil of the LL 110K to the input of the Rheem and see how that works out with my PECO bill. I have usage clocks on the 4500W elements of the Rheem so I will know right away. I like idea of DHW backup if the 110K has an out-fire.

Next heating season 1 ton of nut and 4 tons of rice and I hope the usage clocks on the Rheem move at much reduced pace with.......no oil usage........again.

I took delivery of 4 tons of nut three weeks ago at $200 ton delivered. I’m in the Honey Brook area and if I read the map correctly for your location you are about 50 miles away.

Also just saw that Matthaus has a LL 110K boiler manual update out.

Thanks for the kind thoughts, here's my mid morning update:

Pex lines have been run off the coil.
System drained.
What I 'hope' is the worst part of the job is done, pulled out the section of 2inch BI and tied in my reducers. Thanks for the tip on the torch, worked like a charm.

Now it's time for a 30 minute coffee break while I go to Home Depot to get the rest of the fittings and pipe I need to tie the boiler into the existing lines.

I bought mine and installed it myself last April...I have used it all Summer for hot water...I fired mine right up with coal..no problem...Feel free to use me as a resource for any questions u might have...
Don't know if Matt told you, but when using coal, you need to FIRST set the adjustment so that when the boiler is firing full throttle, you have about 1/2 inch or so of ash at the end of the carpet so that you don't dump any burning coal..this takes time...maybe maybe several hrs..as you will be adjusting in 1/2 turns only on the adjustment (screw/hardware?)...

So to do this..you need to keep a demand on the boiler...(either jump the t-stat terminals on the boilercontrol, or turn up the heat in the house), AND have a way to dump the heat..(you may have to open windows and blow out heat)...

AFTER you have THAT set, then you need to set the idle timer control...

Heavy flow through the tankless coil will provide PLENTY of load for an extended burn.

Ok, afternoon break (cuz Pex Supply didn't get my aerator to me on time )

First off, Pex is sex for old handy men.

Coil hooked up, pressure tested, Woot!

Return line is hooked in (lots of nipples in that bad boy.. ), now I just need the De aerator to hook in the supply and plumb in the expansion tank and the water supply.

Anxiety level is down quite a bit....

My current setup doesn't have any eliminator on it at all, so this one will be an improvement for sure.
