Don,
will it make the boiler less efficient? the tank came with the boiler I bought and the previous owner had it set up this way to be able to fill a jacuzzi tub completely. I did not have anything like this with my old system, but have noticed that we are now able to run both showers same time without running out of hot water. If it will cause harm to the boiler or make it much less efficient I would eliminate it.

If you have more specific questions, please start your own thread. Then, everyone can have a crack at answering. This thread is about pictures of boilers and there installs.

You could be right H. B. That would make more sense and that would work well.

Still it is beyond the bounds of this thread and warrants a new thread for further discussion.

My boiler travelled from Ct to WV last week and this week, it arrived today. We got it unloaded and in place,, and made a list of fittings for tomorrows work...….. its new but has a little surface rust on the cabinet on the back side, we addressed that but the inside of unit is nice, I was hoping the mice had not made a home in it,, sitting in the garage for 10 years anything is possible and it was sort of a gamble. We took the cabinet off of it and inspected all the insulation and not a single mouse dropping was found,, here are a few pictures of todays progress...…. everything in the burnpot area and grates look brand new,, its really an amazing looking piece of equipment, never saw one up close.

this is a 2008 AHS 260, NEVER INSTALLED, JUST PURCHASED AND SAT IN A GARAGE.

it has the LOVE controls

thanks Don,,,, I am sure I will have lots of questions in the upcoming days, bear with me, as I proceed to hook this 260 up,,,, this afternoon when we were bringing it to the house on the skid steer, my wife ( who has been cold since the little New Yorker wc 130 left) was anxious to see the beast and I am pretty sure she petted it!!!! after we got it in place she came over and looked it over, and admired it,!!! I said, honey,, you wont have to do much tending anymore, just a look now and then,, she is so used to firing a furnace and keeping the house warm while I am at the shop I think she is gong to be very surprised with this new venture!!!! thank you and all the veterans on here for your help in this new venture for me.. That's a nice Yellow Flame there. You will get many, many warm Winters out of that unit.

I had been holding off on the pictures till I at least got my wiring in place, I still need a box cover or two but it is working wonderfully, each time I have changed heat plants I have to change plumbing ect and mine like yours will be unique and different in many many ways,, Although the 260 was "new" it has a little surface rust on the blower shaft cover that I will soon address. I have rewired the grate switch to only ash when its running as per drawing from AHS. Please note that a lot of my plumbing was from 5 years ago when I thought I was going to heat with an outdoor mounted rinnia tankless water heater ,, its still in the loop ,, we used it recently for about a month while I was without a boiler.I can't thank the guys on here enough for all the advice and help throughout the last year!!!! The "dump zone" Dayton ceiling hung has constant circulation and the little box fan keeps my 4 car garage warmer than the house,, I can cycle the big fan on the Dayton for mega heat but the little box fan is so quiet it is the stuff. I had bought a big water storage tank and went ahead and put it in line,, it was damaged freight and 115 gal I think,,, has no coil,, we plugged those holes and my indirect water heater with its own coil is 80 gal,, I have it in the loop and not using a coil in the 260. It was not ordered and I really don't need it. I turned the 220 breaker off on my electric water heater.. above the boiler is a small air handler that has a water to air coil that I really don't need now that I can put good warm water in my floors,, I have the garage floor turned off also,, so the water to air will be nice if you want a quick burst of warm air on a cold morning probably when its down in the single digits. But the main thing is its working well and I don't mind sleeping with a window open partially while the temps are in the 60 's here in WV.I still have to hook up my low water cutoff, I am not sure its capable of the task, my motor is 8 amps and its rated at 7.5 ,,, I will try it I guess, could be done with a relay too?

Hello Pat,

You want and need to have the low water cut off as the "VERY FIRST" control for the boiler
"NOT A SEPARATE ONE".

I tell you from personal experience dealing with the hydrolevel 3250 plus that failed twice that you need a separate low water cut off.

I say this because it is the very first electric control wired for your boiler and if it senses a low water condition it will cut all the power to the boiler. This Is how my KAA-4-1 is hooked up and it will shut the boiler off in the event of a water loss.

Which brand of low water cut off did you purchase? I have an B+G/Mcdonnel & Miller BULLDOG RB-122-E Low Water cut off that is a direct contact conductive sensor in the boiler water.

Do you have enough room to open the ash pit door completely to get the ash basket out?
