I recently moved into a home with an oil burner so I had to swap it out. Plumber buddy of mine gave this to me for $500. I fired it up today. I’ll probably put the jacket on in a few days. The first pic is the day he dropped it off and second to last is today.

I haven't seen it done that way but that will work. Do you have a tempering valve for your domestic hot water?

I have an electric water heater piped in after the coil. That does a good job tempering the water. The coil in my oil burner was too small so I add the electric water heater right after we moved in. I run the stoker through the summer but should I need to shut it off the water heater serves as a back up.

You should avoid running water through the coil when the boiler is not in use.thegreatone wrote: ↑Sun. Aug. 19, 2018 8:20 amI have an electric water heater piped in after the coil. Last November/ December I posted regarding my plans to have coal boilers installed at our new town garage and at my home. The second part of that plan is nearing completion, with the first soon to be a reality. About a week ago a VA 400 Van Wert found its way into the basement of my 1851 farmhouse. Many thanks to the gentleman from South Otselic.
