This is the bad boy you were trying to hide with tarps in your other thread, but I knew better right away
it looks really nice, what all needs to be done with it?

Yes, you knew.
Nothing really needs to be done with the boiler, I just have to assemble it and then plumb it and wire it.

Nice! Get it off the wet basement floor as high as you can
. Do you realize this is probably the last coal appliance you'll ever have to buy?

It will be off the floor on blocks, with my current pump set up there shouldn't be any water rising in the cellar. The only glitches would be a pump or power failure when no one is here. It better be the last coal burning appliance I ever have to buy, getting the boiler into the cellar was bad enough, I don't want to be the one who has to take it out. It's here for good.
I have the suspicion that the "fun" is just beginning. I do still have that "Black Cloud Problem".

I'm looking forward to getting the EFM installed and running. I'm using oil for DHW, adding 10 gallons at a time to the empty tank. It ran out this morning, had to make an oil run-off road diesel is at $249.9 (cash) at Fairclough in Hampton. I was even gazing longingly at the pallets of Reading Anthracite while I was there.

Well I would just like to report that I have done absolutely nothing what-so-ever on the EFM since we moved it into the cellar. Work and a few unexpected events have gotten in the way of my little project. I can say that I plan on getting started on it soon.....

Don't you hate it when life gets in the way of what you really want to do? Lisa

When it's 100 degrees, it sure is difficult to be real worried about making MORE btu's!
Don't forget to go downstairs and refresh your install plans once in a while, and remember to reserve time to get coal or get it delivered.
Family comes first.....have a pleasant week!

I finally found a little time to work on the EFM.
Although I don't plan on moving...if I ever do end up in another place, it will have a cellar bigger then a teaspoon!
I used a few 2" X 8"s (temporarily screwed into to floor joists with deck screws) and my steel "digger thing" as the crosspiece to hoist the boiler onto the base. The "digger thing" is a steel bar almost 5 feet long that is square/pointed on one end and round on the other...I know there's a name for it but it escapes me right now.
