Keystoker KB-8, What's It Worth?

Stoker Coal Boilers automatically feed the coal and have controls and pumps just like any conventions boiler. They are intended to be used as a primary heat and often have domestic hot water coils as an added bonus. They can be set up independently or in dual sytem with your existing oil/gas boiler. They can accommodate both hot water base board or steam plumbing.

Bob, I guess there is nothing more expensive than a cheap boiler! Too bad but it is much more boiler than you need. If you’re still considering new check out the price of the AHS units also you may find them not much more than a Harman. However you may have height issues with the AHS hopper feed setup. EFM makes a nice auger feed stoker boiler no height issues with them, but be prepared to part with over 6k for a new EFM and same for a new Axman-Anderson. New Keystokers are probably the cheapest followed by the Harman and then the AHS.

Bob ,The KB-8 is a great boiler. I know, Ihave one in my house and I heat a 5000 sq ft with 2 apartments and all domestic hot water. The KB-8 has a 9" smoke pipe, but can be reduced to 8" at the chimney. any and all parts are still available from keystoker. My boiler was made in 1981, best guess, it was used for steam and abandoned still hooked to the heating system, and filled with water to the radiators when I found this gem. A little cleaning, a few used parts , some new gaskets, and i'm very well satisfied. My KB-8 is hooked to a 5" Field powervent with a 8" field rc baro. The boiler is hooked in series with my Weil-McLain gas boiler , on a 8 zone heating system. I use no coal-trol thermostats, just Lux brand setback thermostats. I installed 2 4gal tankless water heaters, 1 for each apartment, on independant pumps and hot air coils. in this very cold, bitter weather I use about 4 to 5 5gal buckets of rice anthricite. The KB-8 is a great choice to heat with, without a lot of work. If you decide not to buy the boiler, pm me with it's location, i'll come to mass for it.

Bob, how's that info looking on that KB-8 in Mass. If you're not going to take it, how about letting me know where it's at. If the price is right, I will take a ride for it.
If it ain't broke, fix it anyway!
