I knew that in time you would publicly confess to being the pack-rat that you are ;) I'll bet going through the old library stuff is to say the least---OUTSTANDING--even if you do shred a bunch---not that I believe for one second that you really will

Well, I have 35 years of publications from the Pierce Arrow Society. [invaluable references]. I'm not tossing those.. I have 20 years of Mother Earth's News.. too much good info in that pile of paper to toss it. I have 25 years of 'Skinned Knuckles', a car restoration paper.. also way too much info to toss.

All my old Sci Fi paperbacks, my library of various author's works that I can't replace.. well it's staying..

But I sure don't need 20 years of bank statements, or home electric and gas bills. And I'm probably going to toss the 15+ years of Old House Journals, an some other house restoration rags.. too many ads, too little fresh info or ideas.

I have to put up some clock shelves to get a lot of clocks off the floors and off of furniture. That I can do tomorrow.

I did put a major dent in the library clean out. It's about 80% done. I moved out all but one shelving unit, and moved the sofabed in, set up a bed/sofa side table, and moved the big mahogany sideboard/cabinet. Time now for a good rest.

More photos tomorrow.

Greg

Yeah, it has a single bulb inside on a base. the little lights are plastic, sit in holes in the ceramic tree. It was a present from one of my Nieces when they were in middle school.. lets see, that'd be like 28 years ago.. .. no I'm not a pack-rat saver.

The room looks empty.

I tried to make my Monticello into a waste oil burner from Mother Earth News plans. What a freakin' disaster that was. I had a drip tube set up, gallon steel mineral spirits can full of waste oil, soldered in connections, 1/4" copper tube fed through the stack to pre heat the oil! Cast iron frying pan inside the stove with a drip plate, many drilled holes. HAHAHAHHA There was minimal success, but it coated the inside of everything with oily soot.

I have a copy of The Whole Earth Catalog from the 70's still-- couldn't bring myself to toss it......

The mudroom seemed to be a good place to display my nonfunctioning Parlor stove.

Place looks mint!! Now I see why you burn coal -- lots of space to heat. Must be alot better now with that foam insulation, I'd imagine.

Congrats & Merry Christmas!

Absolutely beautiful, Greg! You should be very proud of your work. I know a lot more care and thought went into it than 99.9% of any contractor you could hire would invest into it.

Merry Christmas! What a present!

I've known that story for a long time, my grandmother used to tell me about them when I wouldn't clean my room.

Christmas get-togethers were a success, the horde didn't demolish the house..

So next weekend, I'm hosting a Euchre party,, 12-16 players, this should be fun.. I used to hold them back when the house was such a dump.. now I'll
be happy instead of applogetic when the guests arrive..

I've put up several shelves in the new upstairs library, and sorted out and put up the more than 350 hardbacks and hundreds of pounds of technical literature.

It's slowly shaping up.

Pictures soon.
