I have about 1-1/4 tons of that left to burn. I need to repair the end of the feed tube. It is messed up. I called AA on Monday and talked with Renee. AA DOES NOT have the auger repair ends anymore as the material is to expensive. AA will sell a piece of 5 that can be welded on the end of the auger I have a spare auger that I am going to clean the end up and add some material to make it a little stronger I hope.

Thanks for the concern. That can is 10’ away from the boiler. The ash was cooled off when I sat it over there. My goal is to clean up in there this weekend. I have 3-4 refrigerant recovery bottles I need to turn in as well. I hope to have the building spray foamed in the next week or two.

Figured you were likely in good shape there.

Well I came home to an out fire tonight. Looks like my feed bin will need some attention. The end of the auger was exposed. I have an old steel polymer bin at the house. It is sloped to a center hole in the bottom. I think that it will make a good bin. I will get some pictures up on Thursday.

Well boiler has been running for a little over a month now. I have had a few out fires due to coal bridging. I am almost done with the coal that had all the fines in it.
I did have an issue with ashing. The ashing arm was slipping off the side of stop and the boiler was ashing all the time. Took me 3 weeks to figure it out.
I got my pipes insulated this past weekend. I want to put another layer on pipe insulation on and then tape it up to keep from getting wet and falling apart.

I had the same problem with mine. The ashing lever would slip down behind every once in a while. I took the ashing lever off, put it in the vise and gave it a slight bend out. Works perfect now.
I only noticed it because me and the cat spend a lot of time sitting and watching this crazy coal burnin' contraption.

Well it’s been a while since I have updated the forum on the Axeman. I am happy to report that we have had trouble free burning for almost 2 years now. I have run through almost 22 ton of pea coal so far. I am also happy to report that it has saved me over $4000 in heating costs in 2 years compared to wood pellets. I figured I would have burned 15 tons a year at $289 per ton. This boiler is amazing and heats out 6400 sq ft house with basement very efficiently.
This summer I plan on pulling out the pellet boiler and installing an oil boiler for back up. I can get a good deal on one since I work for an oil company.
I also plan on running 1-1/4 black pipe over to my parents side to cut back on some of the heat loss in basement on my side. Also need to fix a few leaks that popped up this year form the coal boiler piping.
