My step daughter down the road ran out of fuel oil. What's the best substitute to get thru a few days? I don't know much about fuel oil, I've never lived in a house that uses it lol.

If the company she deals with will not make an emergency delivery, then change companies. Even 10 gallons from a service man to get through the night.

Used motor oil. Have to cut it with some diesel or kerosene. Half and half. If you are going to throw a 5 gallon can in the fuel tank, diesel will be cheaper than kerosene and more btu.

Thank you fellas.. I dragged my neighbor into it, he has a 50 gallon diesel tank with a hand pump. Her oil company wanted $175 for an emergency delivery plus 150 gallon minimum..

Will biodiesel work? Since the diesel subject was brought up I will ask that for future searchers.

Off road and home heating are damn near the same thing. If it’s an outside tank sometimes an anti gel additive is added but won’t hurt anything this time of year if ya don’t and it is outside tank.

Take 4 gal of used motor oilwaytomany?s wrote: ↑Sat. Mar. 25, 2023 5:29 pmUsed motor oil. Have to cut it with some diesel or kerosene. Half and half. If you are going to throw a 5 gallon can in the fuel tank, diesel will be cheaper than kerosene and more btu.
Add 4 gal of kerosene
Take that 8 gallon solution and toss it in the trash
Go out and buy 5 gal of diesel and use that. Make a standard order for standard delivery.
