Rob I’m using a Taco SR504. The heating zones each have a tstat and the indirect water heater has an aqua stat.

McGiever the pump was 37 years old but never used. I bought this boiler still in the shipping crate. Sat attached to this boiler in a garage with seasonal temperature and humidity swings. Did not run dry.

When you remove the seized circulator, give it a close examination. You would not be the first guy to install a boiler that had been sitting only to find out there was debris inside the boiler (mouse nest, etc).
Your SR504 has an end switch that you can connect to the TT terminals in the aquastat on the propane boiler, this will fire it up to the high limit on heat calls. When I had two boilers I had the thermostat wire from my zone relay run through a DPDT switch, so it could easily switch it from one boiler to the other.

Ok I see it at the left end with wires already connected. They go into the top of the oil boiler and I assume serve the same purpose. So I can just add the TT wiring from the gas boiler to those terminals.
New circulator installed and working. No sign of any debris in the old pump or boiler drain area. Good thought though. I wish I would have have thought of that before installing it so I could have flushed it out real well.

Ah, ok. I don’t envision switching back and forth between boilers once I get all the bugs worked out so I’ll just have to switch the 24v wires of I do. Thanks Rob, this was very helpful.

On second thought I’ve ordered a DPDT switch to more easily select between boilers. Pics and results to follow. New circulator is quiet and runs much cooler.

Ok went live yesterday with the propane boiler. Haven’t hooked the dpdt switch yet. Just swapped out the oil boiler wires from the controller with the gas boilers. Working great.
Pump and burners cycle on and off as they should.

That is good news. How do the flames look? You may need to make some adjustments to the air shutters on the burners, but I would leave it alone until you verify that the gas pressure is correct.

The flames look good. I had an hvac tech set the gas pressure to 11” of water column. Fires up smoothly but shuts down a little noisy with a small pop.

Surprisingly this little pellet insert kicks out more heat than you’d think. When it’s on I use two box fans blowing cool air toward this 20x 36 room from the rest of the house. After it’s run for awhile it will keep the thermostat in the opposite end of the house from activating. It’s pretty easy to use which is good cause I’m starting 7 weeks of chemo and radiation today.
