You know what was really painful today? Buying 4 more bags of WOOD pellets  ...and I'm tellin ya, they don't make wood pellets like they used to.. I gotta shut this thing down and clean out the fire pot at least twice a week or else the pellets start rolling out because it's all caked up.

Has anyone else noticed that wood pellets aren't as great as they used to be, and the varying quality from brand to brand?

True but I'm sure others around here might use a few wood pellets around spring and fall, or maybe I'm the only moron that does such a thing  maybe it's time to chuck that thing and find a sweet little coal hand fed fireplace insert :) But then again that would only be for my entertainment with the AA in the basement...

When i made the mistake of wasting money on my pellet stove it really mattered which pellets I used. I tried 4 different ones with 4 different results and found one that burned well and stuck with it. Never had a problem after that but did have to vacuum wood dust out on occasion. Wish I had that money back I spent on that POS.

A mica stove insert and a AA in the basement. You might need to wear a diaper to catch the sweat that will drip from your boyz.

Yeah I hear ya.. A brand called "Dry Creek" was my favorite wood pellet. Unfortunately the place that sold them went out of business..

The quality of wood pellets can vary a lot. My area is fortunate to have a good supply from a local pellet mill and another brand from Quebec. I have only used about 2 lbs in 2 years to light my EFM, but so far so good. :D

Big difference in pellet quality by brand...
Iron House sells pellet stoves and are picky about what goes into the stoves...
I'll check what they recommend...
