Latest update: The Township permit has been granted, and the trenching (actually horizontal drilling) and tie-in to the now pressurized NG line will commence on 3/17 (weather permitting). The NG boiler install team should arrive on the scene the week after to begin their work.

80,000 input BTUH for home heating (~68,800 BTUH output when not condensing)
160,000 input BTUH for DHW (~137,600 BTUH output)

How low will the heating side turn down to?

Read the warranty fine print and make sure you water is either below the recommended hardness level.

My water is softened. I hope the softener never goes on the fritz.

Correction:

150,000 BTUH input for DHW (~129,000 BTUH output)

Roughly 3.5 - 3.7 GPM for DHW

That should be plenty for your DHW needs.

Any plans to install a gas range or cooktop?

Nope! My wife is head over heals in love with her induction range, which is pretty close to as fast as NG at heating, and has much finer temperature control, and simmers at the low end much better than NG. Plus no CO in the kitchen. And it doesn't get the surface very hot, so she likes to put paper towels or newspaper under all of her pots and pans while she is cooking, to pick up any oil splatters.

Makes sense. I have never cooked with an induction unit. I really prefer gas over a traditional electric unit, but the induction models certainly have some nice features.

When you have the guys guys run your piping inside the house, have them run a line to your laundry room. That way you have it done when it comes time to replace the dryer.

I used to think gas was great after growing up with the old fashioned "coil" electric stoves. However, after I moved into my current home with a ceramic electric (not induction) cook top I don't think I'll ever go back to gas for cooking. It's far faster boiling water over gas and it doesn't heat up the kitchen, and doubly so for the oven. I'd like to upgrade to a convection oven down the road, but I'd definitely keep the electric.
