Highly tentative cubic feet (Cu_Ft) of natural gas consumption formula for our home (based upon 4 days of NG data):

(12.3 Cu_Ft/HDD x Days_HDD's) + 25 Cu_Ft/Day (for DHW) = Days Estimated Cu_Ft of NG Consumed
Do you have a cost for Cu_ft/HDD yet or do you have to wait for the first bill to add in all the taxes and CO-OP charges? I'm curious how it stacks up against your coal costs.

What do you figure for heat value per 1000 cubic foot of your NG?
Are you to be billed solely on cubic feet or 'therms'?

I'll know at the end of this month. But NG pricing changes monthly. Summer NG is roughly 3 times more costly than winter NG.

I'm presuming an average of 1,065 BTU's per Cubic Foot based upon some Ohio NG data I've seen from the EIA.

The meter they gave me reads in Cu_Ft x 100 increments, but I don't know yet how I will be billed as to the units?

Summer's 3X rate can help recoup all that new infrastructure costs for adding for new co-op customers to the up and growing system.

Meter read 83 this morning, and I'm taking that to be the April NG consumption, which x 100 = 8,300 Cu-Ft.

I'm assuming 28 Cu-Ft. per day for DHW

8,300 - (28 x 30) = 7,460 Cu-Ft for home heating

583 HDD's

7,460/583 = 12.8 Cu-Ft. per HDD

Actual consumption was most likely somewhat less than that, as for the first two days the installers had my garage doors wide open and my basement doors (one to the outside, and one to the garage) wide open, and they were opening all 4 zones at the same time, etc... during their testing. Plus they had to pour the coal to it to heat up the 30 gallon buffer tank. If I exclude those first two days the average is closer to 12.5 Cu-Ft. per HDD for the rest of the month. So that is the figure I'm going with leading into May.

Revised formula:

(12.5 Cu_Ft/HDD x Days_HDD's) + 28 Cu_Ft (for DHW) = Days Estimated Cu_Ft of NG Consumed

Stupid me, I never checked the gas meter to see if it read 0000 right after it was installed. The first time I looked at it, which occurred sometime on April 2nd, it already read 0007 (or 700 Cu-Ft.).

Still waiting for the first bill. Hopefully it's on there. If not, it isn't the end of the world.

Hooking up to gas pipleline will automatically increase value of your property, so you will get money back after you decided to resale it.....

We are switching to natural gas that is now on the street. Have the EFM DF520 listed for sale. We too are looking at a combi boiler for our heating needs as well as our DHW.
We have UGI for gas service and they are offering a $1500 rebate if installing a 94% efficient or greater combi unit.
It looks like this will all be completed this month.
