I removed my block off plate from below and looked up in and really got a good look at everything. I actually can not see any cracks in the liner its self, and it is most definitely not missing any pieces. The part I am more concerned about is the smoke shelf and smoke chamber itself before it goes into the flue. This is made out of brick, and looks like it has been filled in and repair over time with cement. All the bricks are in place and as far as I can tell the mortar is still in there. The whole fireplace is encased in brick on the outside as well. Should I be concerned about this? I'll try to get a picture.

This is what the sides look like at the smoke chamber.
Also want to mention I never noticed how big this flue was its 12x12!
Just so we're all on the same page, I'm talking about burning wood. The last thing I want is a Chimney fire or something else. Also want to mention I never noticed how big this flue was its 12x12!

If I was you,i would wash that chimney, scrub every square inch till those bricks & the flue shine like new, maybe even find a hi-temp wax to cover it all. That should cover you for using the fireplace on Christmas
Sorry,i just could not resist !!
Just go ahead & use that fine looking fireplace/chimney !!~!!!!!

Haha I'm just so paranoid every since they told me to absolutely not use it. I can't see any problems with it and I very distinctly remember them saying the only issues were some cracks.

I burned in it over the weekend and it was really nice. I wouldn't actually mind using it everyday, it made the living room really nice.

I would tell you not to use it too if I stood to profit $1500 from it.xandrew245x wrote:Haha I'm just so paranoid every since they told me to absolutely not use it. I can't see any problems with it and I very distinctly remember them saying the only issues were some cracks.
