I just read this article about the ban of wood stoves that are not epa compliant, .mentions coal stoves and a ban on selling or trading non compliant stoves too...
I see a black market of old stoves in the future if that's how this goes down

There is no such bans on coal stoves AFAIK, new coal units could not meet EPA regs for wood but they don't have too. The EPA regs are too address PM (smoke), this is non issue with anthracite. Matter of fact a manufactures like AHS had to relabel units labeled for wood and coal too just coal.D.lapan wrote:I just read this article about the ban of wood stoves that are not epa compliant, .mentions coal stoves and a ban on selling or trading non compliant stoves too...

" Elsewhere, the Utah Department of Environmental Quality has proposed a ban on wood burning between November 1 and March 15 for several counties around Salt Lake City. All coal and wood burning would be illegal during that period in Salt Lake, Box Elder, Cache, Davis, Utah, Tooele Utah and Weber counties in the proposal. Only persons who used wood as their sole means of heating would be allowed to keep burning. "

I can't see banning existing stoves, but there is nothing wrong with better standards for new stoves, providing such improvements are possible. A more efficient stove benefits everybody.
