Distance From Top of Stove to Mantel

I would go w/ matching the floor wood--Birch, cherry maybe??? Definitly a hard wood of sorts. What is that to the right, a painted wall?? I'm thinkin you won't have any problems w/ the insurance co. Of course I'm not from Mi.

Fred To the right is a cabinet that we use to store DVD's in etc.
