How do we even allow people who think like this to live in general population? Survival of the stupid .

not legal to even sell a older wood stove, plus unless it has a underwriters sticker you will not be able to get homeowners insurance...Canaan coal man wrote:Just buy a Pre EPA stove and you will be grandfathered in

depends on where you live in and the insurance company you use. Most wont ask for any of that information nor do they require inspection. stoves that are "already" in a home prior to these regulations on UL listed stoves would be grandfathered.
so if you have a turn of the 20th century home i.e. 1900 or older and you happen to have a 1908 stove that is in the house whose to say it wasn't already there?
Don't list wood or coal heat as your main source of heat when insuring a home. some wont even insure a home if that is your main source of heat. You must list gas, electric baseboard or heatpump as main sources of heat. I have not checked on outside boilers yet.

One reason my furnace burns oil wood and coal, the "main heat" is oil and that's what's listed, even if I burn oil
