Trying to help a friend with a lennox superior wood insert fire place. The prefab back panel is crack and wondering if it can be repaired. I've came across product call Heat stop, has anyone used it? http://www.heatstoprefractorymortar.com/productDe ... UL-STICK-5... Cost of factory replacement panel is $$$ for my retired friend. ty

It would be best to post a pick. Is the panel cast iron or steel?

The MSDS provided in the OP's first link shows it a quartz enforced concrete .. should be OK.

The panel would be same a firebrick for coal and wood stoves. They also sell 50 lb bag dry mix that I'm thinking we could use to make new panel.
