The used boiler I bought has this installed. I was planning on using the air purger from my present system. Is this thing any good and do they wear out? It would be difficult to replace once the boiler is installed where the one I have now just can be unscrewed and replaced.

I just used a large adjustable on the top to unscrew the two body halves apart. Unlike other units they do not need any lead in pipe length so can be used in tighter spaces.

Where this type excels is for removing the suspended fast flowing micro bubbles that are very hard to separate out.
There is a screen type grid inside that the micro bubbles collect upon and will combine with others and then when combined to be larger bubbles will then float up to get removed/expelled.

My old system always struggled with air pockets for 20 years. Dave O'Neil talked me into trying one just like in your picture. No air troubles ever-after. Its worth the effort.
