Back in 1994 I cut a large portion of our woodlot over the winter using a skidder, and it worked well of course. I used my Grandfather's advice and just cut pulpwood and let the better trees grow. I used a Clark 666 cable skidder for that endeavor, but when I was done, come summer, I used a D4 Cat to bulldoze my main twitch roads smooth and flat, taking out the cradle-knolls, rocks, and keeping the roads flat on the side hills. I did that so I can go in afterwards and use my tractor and a farmi winch to pull out wood. Overall it was good forestry.

This is what is growing now. I do apologize for the original subject matter of the photo, I don't typically go out in the woods and snap photos of trees, so this is Katie on a Little Red Ridinghood Photo Shoot, but note the hemlock next to her. There are plenty more around as well. Hemlock grows really well here, along with Spruce and Ash.

This section of the forest has a funny story to it.

Years ago my father said her was going to give 15,000 board feet to our church so that they could put an addition on. I wanted to keep it so I told Dad we should keep the wood for ourselves, but he knew he was doing the right thing. That was just a few years ago, but God has really blessed our woodlot for that, and since then it has just boomed. The tree in the post above is nice, but there are literally TONS more of them just like it. I was wrong...the bible says he owns cattle on a thousand hills, and I'd say he owns a few sheep on this hill, and certainly all the wood, I just happened to be entrusted with it for awhile.

To be sure NS. We are mere caretakers for the Creators gifts. I do my best here on the hill & am repaid 10 fold. ;)

As it should be...
Do the right thing...
and it comes back to you in abundance...
Some times you can not see how things could possibly work out...
But ya just gotta have the faith...
Doing the right thing and being a good person...
While sometimes seems painful, in the end benefits everyone...
The more you do it, the easier it gets...
Soon it is just second nature...
Our youngest daughter is our biggest blessing so far...
having been told we would need to do IVF again if we wanted any more babies...
Grace proved them all wrong...
Just 3 months after the twins were born... ;)
We wondered how we would handle three kids that close in age...
but just went with " others have done it, we will too"
Now we can not imagine not having the three of them...
And Grace have been the easiest of the three so far...
