I've always used wood before during the shoulder season but I saw these at Tractor Supply last week and picked up a couple just to try them out. Overall, they work great and their burn time is really long...awesome for throwing in the stove right before you go to bed and having it still going well 6-7 hours later when I wake up. 8,800 BTU per pound so its not quite coal but its much more than standard firewood.

I figured I'd pass it on in case anyone else ever wanted to try them.
