Sure glad I got 8 ton of coal in the bin now.
LP was never cheap but for the midwest one of the cheapest places to buy it.
Camparing with fuel calculater cost is $11.72 per million BTU of 16,000,000 per unit cost campared to $54.74 per million BTU of propane.
Puts a smile on my face.

a local LP dealer has been saying it will be $5 next week here. It was 2.20 here last week. Last time I bought any was 2004. I will admit to laughing at a couple coworkers who laughed about me burning coal in the past. They werent smiling anymore

I imagine the government will step in somehow. Has to be some extra gouging going on somehow.

Had to calculate this twice because I thought a I made a mistake the first time. At $4 per gallon it just a little over $1000 if it were 1 ton of coal, at $5 per gallon it would be $1300 if it were 1 ton of coal.

They just said on the weather channel that the average size of a propane tank is 500gal and the price to fill one up would be over $1,500.

I'm glad I don't burn propane

N.E. is same way,Every thing very $$ just received my EL bill and was shocked. Glad I'm burning coal. With these temps a bit more than usual but I'm saving

$4.99 a gal here in Wisconsin, was $1.99 last week and $1.19 last summer, definitely price gouging.

Funny how it always works, if there is a shortage of something it should just be harder to get not more expensive. I'll bet come summer with lots in supply the price will never come back down to where it was, free enterprise at it's worse. Even now once the price gets to where they want it (or they start getting looked into for gouging) which ever comes first there will all of a sudden be plenty of propain.

Well Sam if your business for example depends on propane you're going to pay whatever it takes to get it.

True Richard but does that make it right? For many there life may depend on propane to keep from freezing so would it be ok to let them freeze if they can't afford it? There are some shelters opening up around here, not for the homeless as usual but for those that can't heat there homes. The VFF are going in & draining their water lines & winterizing & taking them someplace to keep from freezing, the end result is going to be (as always) the tax payer is going to foot the bill.

Holy extortion ....

$1,300 a ton for coal ... imagine that!!

In other news, local fuel oil prices have hit an all-time high not seen since '08 today ....
