]Awhile back I asked about making a new fireback in a fireplace insert. I looked at many options including getting the castable refractory. In the end, I got two 6 pack boxes of firebrick splits and used furnace cement to stabilize the fractured back and then build a new wall in the front.
UP and running but sucks compared to coal.
