]Awhile back I asked about making a new fireback in a fireplace insert. I looked at many options including getting the castable refractory. In the end, I got two 6 pack boxes of firebrick splits and used furnace cement to stabilize the fractured back and then build a new wall in the front.

I am not an engineer, train or otherwise!
I stay at a Holiday Inn at least once a year!
Most of all I do have common sense and a practical application of logic.
Oh, add humor, on the dry side, along with a wee bit 'o sarcasm.
