I need to heat a 2100 square foot home with 10' ceilings in the mountains of East Tennessee. I finally wore out a Century 2000 wood stove heating this home. I am shopping and considering three models - the PE Summit, Quadra-Fire 5700 and Osburn 2400. I've been fortunate enough to actually see and inspect a new Summit as well as the Quadra-Fire 5700, but I have not been able to inspect the Osburn 2400. The very few reviews I've seen are good, but would appreciate any evaluation from people who really know what they are talking about. I am drawn to the Osburn 2400 because of its mass, firebox size, 5/16" plate top, and 530 lb weight, etc. I would surely thank y'all for any help in this area. God Bless all! Thanks!

After endless amount of research I can tell you that the Quad will be the better choice. It is a more quality stove for the long run and will put out more heat. The same manufacturer that makes Harman makes Quadrafire. I was torn between the Osburn 2000 and a Quad 4300. I went with the 4300 Quad and am extremely happy I did. One bit of advise, make sure you get one that will qualify for the $1500 tax credit, it really helps when you do your taxes.

I bought a Quadrafire Mt Vernon about 6 years ago. The following year they bought out the MT (or something) computer controlled to reduce emissions. Mine was the biggest pile of junk that I ever bought. The dealer came to fix it many times under warranty and told me thank God you did not get the later one (HUH). Time after time we wrestled with it. New circuit boards etc. etc. Changed brands of pellets many times. The main problem was that it did not switch off via the thermostat so the pellets would keep coming - or not at all, depending on the mood. Eventually I gave up on pellets and bought coal stoves. Had it serviced again - new augers etc. and it seemed to behave itself. As I was now a coal man I sold it in good faith with a written warning of some of its prior quirks. As it was being moved I advised the man to get it set up again by the dealer which he did. One month later he called me - sure enough this house filled up with smoke as the auger did not shut off.

Built another little apartment at the farm - too small for coal so tried a Harman p38+ - sure enough another piece of junk chapter and verse if you are interested. My son has the P68 which I helped to install - that one runs fine. My DVC coal runs fine after a few little issues.

My two Poconos and Keystoker are champs but I can't say I am thrilled by Harman overall and the customer service SUCKS. Perhaps they are better now.

Make sure you find out if they also replaced the ESP Probe as well as the circuit board. Harman recommends to replace both due to power going through the ESP probe before going through the board. If they didn't I wouldn't be suprised if something happens to the new board that they put in if the defect was located in the ESP probe rather then the board itself.
xanndra - keep in mind that many dealers now a-days are charging extra for their services over and beyond of what Harman will pay for labor. Unfortunately contacting Harman about this will result in a "their's nothing we can do" factor due to the fact that every dealer is a sole propriator (sp). Since Harman does not own them their hands are tied behind their backs when it comes to these issues. Sorry to say but very true.

Yep, and that is what put me down for 4 weeks+ in the middle of winter the dealer did not know that one. He stated that in his training class no one told him that one. Another one for Craigslist this winter.
