Oh, I feel so dirty now :fear:

I got a job today. Rewiring a house is all I was told. I get on site, and I''m given a pile of new electrical components to install; new recepticals, switches, exterior and interior lights, exhaust fans, and.....

new ELECTRIC Baseboard Heaters!
Can you forgive a guy for trying to make a buck?
Well, I went ahead and installed everything I could, The electric baseboard heaters were the Hydronic type, they seem pretty efficient, but still ELECTRIC! I talked to the owner about coal, trying to put my 2 cents in. He was interested, but not very mechanical. They have a wood stove that they have never used.

Once I got home, I went and played with the coal stove, just to get the bad smell of electric off my hands.

:D

AFAIK no more efficient than standard electric baseboard. You just get a more even heat.

Do they have winter where you installed electric? Is electric amazingly cheap in this area? Here in MA, I can not conceive of
anybody installing electric heat for anything. The cost to run it would be STUPID expensive.

Yup...probably 200 a month and up from there. Only slum-lords would do that around here.

I've burned coal for about 30 years, but during a remodel this year I
replaced the electric based board heaters. We use it only as a going away backup.
Didn't feel bad at all. The new bright white units look pretty good. They'll never
be turned on, but they look good.

I have a nice new Lennox forced hot air oil furnace that never gets used as well (except for the blower) the oil burner has about 1 hour run time on it.

That is an 'AGGRAVATED ANTI-COAL OFFENSE'! No first time warnings, do not pass GO, and head straight to 'Coal Jail'.
I am including something that happened to another young man who "Sinned". You should feel lucky all you lost were coal privileges!

'Bless me Father, for I have sinned.
I have been with a loose girl'.

The priest asks, 'Is that you, little Joey Pagano ?

'Yes, Father, it is.'

'And who was the girl you were with?'

'I can't tell you, Father. I don't want to ruin her reputation'..

"Well, Joey, I'm sure to find out her name sooner or later
so you may as well tell me now. Was it Tina Minetti?

'I cannot say.'

'Was it Teresa Mazzarelli?'

'I'll never tell.'

'Was it Nina Capelli?'

'I'm sorry, but I cannot name her.'

'Was it Cathy Piriano?'

'My lips are sealed.'

'Was it Rosa Di Angelo, then?'

'Please, Father, I cannot tell you.'

The priest sighs in frustration.
'You're very tight lipped, and I admire that.
But you've sinned and have to atone.
You cannot be an altar boy now for 4 months.
Now you go and behave yourself.'

Joey walks back to his pew,
and his friend Franco slides over and whispers,
'What'd you get?'

'Four months vacation and five good leads ! '

I have two 5-ton and one 3-ton combo a/c and heating units on my store roof heating 5000 sq ft of concrete block building with r-38 in the ceiling and zero wall insulation.

I pray everyday that the community power rate of 5.5c per kwh continues to be renewed.
