I have a friend that got burn't that winter all the variable rate plans jumped up . He had switches to his provider and then let it transition to a variable. Now he sticks with PPL no matter what and he heats with electric baseboard and a small amount of wood. He'll spend hours on the computer playing around but won't spend 10 minutes shopping electric rates. Oh well.

Many in my state got burnt by a variable rate scheme. These can be fine, one has to read their electric bill and the contract. But 99% of people are stupid. So my state now has it where you can cancel the contract w/o penalty - demorats pandering votes.nut wrote: ↑Tue. The rates are always variable at some point in time.

I never get a variable rate.Your asking for rate hikes. Fixed rate,no enrollment fees, no monthly fees and no cancellation fees. I dont bother with anything else. Plenty of options without going variable.nut wrote: ↑Tue. May. 30, 2023 9:48 amI have a friend that got burn't that winter all the variable rate plans jumped up . Me too . The problem arises when the term expires and you're asleep at the switch. I have yet to stick with a company because the new rate is never competitive . You would think they would want to keep you but they keep playing the same game over and over. Come-on rate then jack em up.

I try to get 12 ,18 or 24 month terms . Then you dont have to watch them so close. I did have a 24 month term at 9.6c .The new rate is 9.1c but only for 6 months.nut wrote: ↑Tue.
