Hi , Can someone help me out . I'm after nine 4"×4" mica panels, and six 3"×3" mica panels .The guy I buy from in the states has temporarily closed down as his property was hit by the storm there and is concentrating on getting his home sorted . I'm looking for a company that sells good quality clear mica at reasonable prices and will post to the UK 🇬🇧. I anyone on this site has some the sizes I want and is willing to send to me that would be great , just send me a private message and we can sort out payment . If not please recommend a company that you lads trust . Thanks in advance . Wal .

Hi Paul, I originally ordered from stovemica.com . Dave is his name and he has a place in florida . He was really reasonable in price 10 4"x4" panels with postage was £64 ,but he has had a storm in florida a few weeks ago and he is concentrating on getting his home sorted out .,and he has temporarily stopped selling . I have asked the company you have spoke about but they want $40 to ship + Import tax which is quite frankly ludicrous as its a small padded envelope which weighs nothing and is sent by usps ! So thanks for the Imput but that's to rich for me ! Problem is in the UK ONE 4"×4" costs roughly £12 to £13 ,as apposed to £6 from dave .considering my stove has 50+ panels it would work out really expensive to replace them all ! Any more suggestions gratefully received.

Walt,
Dave may not be charging for his time, or somehow not filing the export paperwork required by our government ????

I export antique car parts that I make, and USPS and UPS require me to fill out that form or they won't send the parts. On all exports I charge a filing fee for my time.

Paul

Don't know either way about that , but $40 is steep in my book .Think I might have to bite the bullet and buy in the UK. Thanks anyway

Hi , I was grateful for mntbugy for putting me in touch with a great supplier in the USA who was brilliant to deal with and I purchased enough mica to change all my mica in my baseburner. It was also far better quality ,and a reasonable price ,so a win win . Sorry I can't recall who it was as I am on holiday in Spain 🇪🇸 at the moment so can't get the information, that was sent to me .regards wal .

US Artquest has chucks of mica. They will need cut to size then sliced/cleaved into thin .005-.010 of an inch thick slices. They are dark brown in color until you cleave them. Then they become clear.

Can be found on Amazon or Ebay or Joann Frabric. Even direct. Medium or large size chucks is best. $18 dollar for 2oz. package. Enough for 20-30 widows, depending on how thick you cleave them. Individual slices are outrageously expensive, but less work.

Marianne in Texas, is no longer in business. Sent her an email, got crickets.
