Atlanta #60. Spent a little time today getting the main layers of rust off. We like the cast look. Would using crisco shortening work? I know it will smoke like crazy at first, but wouldn't it seal it then? Image

Just use a polish made for cast iron.

Crisco, or any cooking oil/grease, will burn, turn brown, and not look like cast iron.

Either black stove polish as Tcalo recommended (I prefer Meeco brand), or high temp stove paints.

A member did a nice job of a cast iron look by using both black and silver stove paint. A light coat of one sprayed over the other.
