My buddy's dad who helped raise me passed away and I was allowed to have his old shop stove. I plan on using a wire brush, then acetone, and then stove paste to clean it up.
I'm very familiar with wood stoves, but know virtually nothing about coal stoves. So, what is this bowl inside of it? What size coal should I buy?
I'm going to go with a 7 inch oval to 6 inch pipe. Add a damper. Then eventually go from 6 inch to 5 inch and use this in my 10x12 wall tent. Already bought a carbon monoxide detector for it.
Any help and advice would be GREATLY appreciated.

Is that a wood stove? The vents above the fuel pot makes me think so.

I believe it's a coal stove, but I definitely could be wrong.

If you are putting it in a tent, don't bother with coal. Just burn some small wood fires. You may have a hard time controlling fire with that door repair.

That's what I was worried about. I cleaned it a little today and need to.order a 7inch oval to 6 inch pipe so I can fire it in the yard and see what happens.

6 inch pipe is 18.8 inches around. Stretch a piece of string around the stove outlet and then around the stove pipe to see if they are close enough to let you use the stove pipe partly crushed to oval.
