Would anyone know where I might find 2 more of these to complete this Florence 53 finial? Should be 4 of them and I bought it with only 2.
Thanks

Send an email with pics to Mill Creek Antique's in Paxico,Kansas. Bud might have them.

They might be really hard to find. Might have to find a private collector.

Are they steel, brass plated or solid brass?

These look to be more of a copper plated. But they do stick to magnet so we’ll go with steel. They had a goldish color paint on them and I doubt anything had been done to it since it was new. Paint was in awful condition. I know a guy who has one in mint condition and it looks to be painted a gold color. It’d be nice if they were brass. I’ve seen the tulip finials for 53 and 153 in both ways. Brass and steel.

I know a guy who probably has a couple, like you need. Complete and brass plated.

You willing to spend over $400, if he is willing to sell.

If you can't find replacements,... know of any Sheetmetal shops, Blacksmith, or Amish that do buggy work in the area ? That's at most a $100.00 - 150.00 job to bend and rivet two.

Those are just simple strap metal and rivets. Was doing that kind of basic decorative stuff in Jr High School metal shop class.

Then add shipping and handling twice, plus plating.

When you buy a incomplete stove, you are at the mercy of the person with parts.

You can get a compete stove for $400.

It’s ok, I bought this 53 mainly for the gas rings. It had other salvageable parts too. The finial was different and thought maybe I’d use it. Someone on here said it takes around 3 Florence to make one. I won’t be able to do the $400. I’d like to do nickel plating also on other parts but that’s not going to happen. Maybe when I retire in 25 years. 😂

There is cheaper plating shops. Some charge $35 a part, another charges $20, depending on condition of parts.

When most charge $50.

Thanks for that info. I’ve not looked into it. I’d like to have it done. I could go along with those prices. Someday it’ll happen.

That’s fairly simple ironwork. You could take that to any competent ornamental iron shop and get those made for a reasonable price.

Thanks fig that’s good to hear. In my area all we have are machine shops. I’m not sure who would do ornamental type work. The center top piece is solid brass and it’s broke in half. I wondered about taking it to a jeweler. It’s different than the Florence pieces I’m familiar with. I was told this finial is an older one on the original 53’s

Couple options. Plain or yellow or silver solder. I like the jewelry store idea. They have miniature tools for miniature jobs.

Super glue and never touch fragile area or super glue and recast.

I’ll try the jewelry guy. I have one as a friend. I got mad at him once for buying overpriced firewood at a gas station and now I make him a truckload whenever he’s in need for no charge. ( it’s a enjoyable stress relieving hobby ) Maybe he’ll return the favor. 😃
