So I came across a warm morning model 120 tonight. The jacket was rotted out more then I expected but other parts were in great condition such as the shaker grate. I need this like I need a hole in the head but it’s free so I’m thinking, future spare parts! I already have a model 521. Are they the same specs? They look similar in size. Also which is older, the 120 or 521?

Not at this time. I’ve not brought it home yet. We’re in harvest season right now so it may be awhile

The 120’s were the first ones. The 520’s are about the same, 120 pound capacity.
There are some pretty good threads here to study up on them.
ONLY buy any of these stoves if the bricks and grates are PERFECT. You can have a new barrel rolled but, no new bricks available and limited grates at premium prices
Also make sure the doors aren’t warped and the cast top isn’t cracked, top load door mountings aren’t broken off

Thank you sir, the top is cracked. Small crack. Load door is just fine. Ash door hinge is broke. Bricks look fair from what I looked at. Legs and base and grate are all perfect. Barrel is rotted out and it’s free so I will save it from the scrap yard and maybe I or someone on here may need spare parts one day

I promise to when I get it. I’ve looked at it but didn’t take it home. Been putting in 12-14 hr days 7 days a week. After harvest I’ll get on it. Or maybe a rainy day.

Other than the crack in it. And the crack across the top casting. If you got the greatest out, did the big bricks survive? If you can make a mold and cast some new ones, you can make some $. There are none to be had.

I was actually able to finagle the grate out without doing anything with the brick. It took patience. After ash clean out, some of the bricks are fine and others if disassemble would never go back in place. That said, the jacket is a rotted out mess and I’d say it’s basically a parts stove. The price was right and if someone on here is in need of parts then message me and I’m sure we can work something out.
