Glenwood Base Heater No. 6 Dimensions Please

Hi all,

sorry for the bother but I'm getting conflicting information. Can someone with a Glenwood Base Heater No. 6 measure the distance from the floor to the bottom of the 6" stove pipe connector on the back of the stove. I will be going horizontally into my chimney and I have to have my liner extended. It's expensive and I only have one shot. Thanks for the help. Oh, and if you can, measure the distance from the back of the stove to the front. Based on info I've been given I figure it's about 31" overall.

My #6 is, 22-3/4 inches from the floor to the underside of the Glenwood cast iron elbow at the rear of the stove.

Add 1/8 inch more to that for if there was no pipe and just to the actual pipe flange of the back of the stove.

Thank you. I'll ask my chimney guy to set up according to that number (plus my hearth).

Your welcome.

I forgot about the front to rear measurement. The lower skirt sticks out the most in front. From there to the rear-most part of the stove is 29 inches, give or take an 1/8 inch.

So much bigger than my little 14" Fosters Standard, but with building a noncombustible wall, using a shield and going directly into the chimney I may only add about 8" to how far into the room it goes. The room is right next to the staircase and these old Victorians act like chimneys so I know this stove will keep us warm upstairs as well.

Thanks for the measurements.

Might be a good idea to give him the measurements paired with pictures so he’s certain to get the correct information he needs. Might be real helpful for him to be certain everyone is measuring from the places he needs. Just a thought…

That would have been good, but I'm glad some folks took the time to do the measurements! Sunny Boy (thank you Paul) gave me a measurement that was within 1/8" of what Emery at the Antique Stove Hospital measured. So I think I should be good. Chimney guy is coming tomorrow morning to extend the liner. I'll take some pictures if I'm not in his way.

Our gang here is usually paying real good attention and it looks like Paul was on his “A” game in giving you measurements.
