I've seen baseburners for sale on ebay and in some fancy shops, and they seem to range anywhere from 5-15k.

But I've also seen a round oak on ebay for 4k (which apparently is far too high?)

So I'm curious if anyone could tell me how much a nice baseburner might cost? In rusty condition, and then in restored?

I find them very nice looking and am planning to keep an eye out for them, but just want to make sure I'll also know a good deal when I find it.

In my opinion, a decent unrestored antique would be a good find under $800. As long as everything is there, nothing missing or broken. Sometimes people don't know what they have if it's inherited and you might find a steal. Price is in the "eye of the beholder" as the saying goes. It's the luck of the draw.

Case in point, we found a beautiful hot tub for $750 in pristine condition only a few years old that was $5800 new (plus installation) under those same circumstances. I also found a hitzer 503 coal fired insert in excellent condition for $85.. they are around $2200 new. It was inherited and the guy had no interest, listed it wrong ECT...

It's a matter of jumping on a deal when the opportunity presents itself.

For Ebay stoves, move decimal point one place to the left. Unless someone is actually bidding on item.

Restored dealer prices for a small baseburnner $3500 up to 30k for super rare heaters.

Rusty unrestored, compete depends on your location. Anywhere from free, on up.
