Here is a thread about the Acorn Empire progress. Complete tear down to see what needs fixed. Nickel pieces will be sent to Brian at Mill Lake. Won’t know what needs done til I get everything torn down and blasted. Does have the auto opening load door as you open the finial.

That bigger pot and double heater. Will make a better heater than the Alert.

Alert needs the double heater option. Mine don't have it either.

What sort of action/mechanism does the swing top bonnet use to lift the lid on the magazine?

That is going to be one beautiful stove when it’s brought back to its former glory 👍.

It’s really quite simple. The cover has an ear on it that fits in a slot in the crown. As you slide the crown open it rides over the ear and pushes back in the ear thus raising the cover. A couple of my other Acorns have the same setup. The Acorn Alert does not though. Should be a nice one when finished. Haven’t started yet.

It begins to lift at the very end of the tops movement?

Another jewel in the rough. Could you post a pic or two of the back pipe? I'ld like to see how it's designed? Thanks.

OMG. I can't imagine the weight of that thing. So much cast iron. I don't imagine you lifted it yourself, to put in the vehicle. So it's said it's a double heater. Trying to figure, the stove pipe exits the rear, and the 2nd heater is the opening on the top, right?
