Warm morning 524

I started restoring this 524 last Friday night. Could anyone tell me about what year these heaters were made?

Be very careful with the big side bricks. None to be had. If you can get them out in one piece and get mold made or some copies, you're in the $.

Thanks, my last warm morning I was able to remove the brick no problem. On this one, not so much. It was covered in what I call slag and all the channels were packed full of ash. They are in great condition. So they stayed put and many hours later after using grinder and 3 wire wheels, a small tac hammer, sometimes a screwdriver then blasted all the channels with the air compressor, I now have really clean brick, free air channels to move that hot air and one heck of a mess to clean up in the shop.
That’s good information to know about the none to be had. I think I better leave well enough alone though. Their in there tight.

Thanks, It was a barn find. My neighbor said he found an old coal stove in his barn and asked me if I wanted it. Turns out I can use the parts I need from this 524 for what I need on my 521 that I plan on doing next winter. Ash door hinge pins, the loading door spring handle and the upper draft control on top side. After cleaning the rust off and making it ready to use then I’ll shoot some high temp black paint and the plan is to give it to a guy i know who could use it. I just like knowing the history about things like the year. Then I can pass the info along.

Do you happen to know the diameter of that round grate?

The round grate that is removable and used as a shaker grate? Is that the part your asking about?

Yes the round grate that sits in the grate frame. The slide would then go in the round grate. I need one for my Locke 120. I have access to a Warm Morning 524 and could possibly use it. I just can’t check the dimensions right away. I wondered if you happen to know off hand if it’s a 12 1/2 “ grate
It’s no big deal. I just thought maybe you knew. Don’t go to any trouble to measure it as I can do that in a few days. Thanks.

Yes that’s it. I was just wondering if it was 12-1/2” it’s identical to the Locke 120 in appearance.

Thanks, it’s a 53. My feed grinding, hay mowing tractor. Looking forward to finishing the 524. Needs some welding on the feed door and hinge on lid. That’s my neighbors department not mine for sure.
