Noticed on one side of the stove that when the temp is around 550 I can hear a ticking noise ? Decided to open the side door and it stopped . I presume it’s the mica expanding and contracting , has any one else noticed it in there stove ? Might be only that side as when it’s in baseburner mode the heat is drawn into the opening on that side to pass down the inside of the stove . Just want some opinions, or ideas as to cure it . Thanks in advance .

On close inspection I can see a mica panel expanding/contracting in the Door frame , put my finger in it and it stopped ticking . Answered my own question 🤪. Will have to wait till I run the stove down and make sure it’s sealed right into the stove door . Apologies for posting.

When I bought replacement mica for the stove I bought it from across the pond in the states , but on one occasion I bought it from a supplier in the uk 🇬🇧. The mica from the uk was thinner than from the states , and I think inferior. When I took out the mica that was ticking it was the inferior uk one , so I put another piece behind it to increase the thickness and now no ticking 🙂. When I decide to renew all 48 mica windows will definitely be purchasing from 🇺🇸.

Hey Wal here is who I use for mica. You can order in 1/2” size increments. So if you have 30 windows at 3” x 2 3/4. You can order 30 pieces at 3”x3” and trim to fit. It’s a lot easier to order that way than by a large sheet. Also cheaper to order in small pieces.

Thanks for the info about the mica . As I said the uk mica is thinner and inferior to the USA mica . Price wise for a 4”x3” in the uk it’s around £10 so taking that as a average it would cost upwards of £450 to change all the mica , which is well over $500+ dollars! A lot of money for a inferior product. So when I have a few spare quid 💷 I will look that company up 👍.
