Hi , Just wondered if any of you lads are running a glenwood oak 30 , or 4O . Would love to see pictures of it up and running . Think they look beautiful. Maybe give a little info on how much coal they use , burn time , heat output etc. Not looking to buy , just think they are a beautiful, ornate stove . .

The GW 30 and 40 Oaks are pretty. While listed in their early 1900 catalog at the same time, they were eventually replaced by the simpler style GW Modern Oaks - models 12, 114, 116, and 118. After 1900, stove makers were getting away from all the Victorian ginger bread decorations of the earlier stoves and ranges to a "cleaner look".
GW also made a change in grates. I don't know if all the 30/40 Oaks had them, but the ones I've seen had a rotary coal grate. Whereas when GW came out with the Modern Oaks, they used triangular coal grates (aka prismatic grates).
Having used both types, I prefer the everyday ease of clearing ash and clinkers with the triangular grates.

Here is what is in my 1920 Glenwood master catalog, in the early 1900s they came out with the new “modern” series but up till ww2 you could still get the fancier stoves with triangular grates

I just picked up a 1880s Glenwood oak 16, this is pre weir stove company when Glenwood was still owned by the 3 original members, it pre dates the oak 3 by 5ish years and 30 by 10 years anyways, it has a top cast flue like a round oak, and a draw center grate, this will be going into the shop in he next week or so and should be Finished just before Christmas

That'll be a beauty ! I hope the stove finds the right home to show off all that artistry.
