Mantel beam is in place. Hearth is ready for the 40. A good polish and it’s ready for the season.

Im unsure if the hearth compliments the stove or the stove compliments the hearth as they look perfect together, they match well. I like how you let the rocks be their own shape and didnt cut them all evenly square on the ends. And you could build and sell mantles that look like that too. But the whole thing is nice.

Thanks for all the kind words and compliments. It was a fun project and I am very pleased with how it turned out. I think they compliment each other well. It all ties in perfectly!

Well, I lit off yesterday. Too cold at night for me. Halloween is usually my start date anyway. New house, new set up. I know it’s early but so far the set up works out great. Stove is centrally located in the family room with cathedral ceilings. It opens up to the upstair bedrooms. House layout is quite open. We finally get to enjoy the stove. At our old house the stove was tucked away in a corner room all by itself. I had to install a fan system to move the air around. Not an ideal set up.

Be careful with your ash handling. Maybe make a cover to slip on the pan before you remove from the stove. That light and fluffy ash will try to rise and settle all over your house.

Good advice Rob, thanks! I had some spare metal and cut a piece to fit over the top of my ash pan for when I remove it to dump it.

Warm spell, idled the stove down. Can’t beat these numbers:

OAT 63
IAT 72
Barrel 140
Flue pipe 104
Mano .015
Primary closed
Secondary open
Check damper open

Dialed in nicely

Wow! Wish I had one of those on my hearth. No way I can idle the 354 that low. Sure would be nice.
