I think yours is the one i seen on here when i did a google search and seen that yours resembled the one i have. Im positive this one is missing any kind of accordion type of thermostat. Im honestly not sure how i go about restoring this one other then replacing old screws and media blasting it and getting some new rope gasketing for it? As for how the vent along the side even mounts im at a loss for or how to control the flap that opens for it other then manually? If you have any insights it would be greatly appreciated.

Yup... I kept a sheep shed from freezing for a couple of years with my Jamesway. I no longer have it, but I think I could go see it if need be. It had a bi-metal thermostat that opened and closed an air flapper to keep the heat output how you wanted. I would fill and ash it every 12 hours & walk away, it worked well.

Might be able to buy a bimetallic spring and attach a chain to raise and lower the flap. If yours has a flap. I’m not sure where the intake is for yours. It’s different then the one I found pics of on Facebook.

Here is the one I saw.

It is a bit different then yours. Maybe a different version or something.

Wonder what the apparatus on the side is?
That side casting should have a horizontal divider that would separate the primary and secondary air intakes.

The primary and over fire secondary damper doors are either linked together with casting tabs or operated in unison by a linkage attached to a thermostat control arm similar to the Buckeye Brooders.

It will really help if the op can post some pictures of the back and side view of that side casting.

In the first picture it appears the side casting is upside down. If so there are two 1/4" holes towards the bottom . This is where the wafer thermostat control arm would be attached.

Here is a pic of my Buckeye. Also pics of the wafer thermostats. I put one on top of the stove for a minute to show how it expands.

I think i seen this one also. I need to go and look again. But i found it thru a google search. As far as the flap goes, im gonna go by my storage unit and take more pics of that side piece. I could really use some pics of someone's who has something similar so i can maybe pick the parts up somewhere. Another thing im curious about is if i go to restore this? Where would i put gasketing? Especially wondering about where the casing sits on the base. Would gasketing even be put there?

Take some more pics of the other pieces from different angles especially the side of the barrel without the ribs.

Ok, It looks like you have everything except the thermostat control.

The very first picture you posted on page #1 is the correct position of the base, barrel, and top. In that picture the side plate that contains the primary and secondary dampers is upside down.

Near the bottom of that side casting cover is where the wafer thermostat control (very similar to the Buckeye) was bolted. A linkage was attached to the handle on the side.

When the stove called for heat the lower primary flap was opened directing air under the grates. As the stove heated up the primary damper closed and the secondary over fire air damper opened.

There are two mounting holes for the thermostat framework and one of them still has a piece of the mounting tab attached.

Where are you located?
