Only because I read that on Stove Hospital's web site. They are the ones experienced in them.
I've never been near a real sheet metal stove, just a really nice working toy one...… and not enough money with me to buy it.

I take it that what you're running is not sheet metal then? I figure cast, but what is correct term?

Just kidding. Yes my Glenwood range is all cast iron. However, like many barrel parlor stoves, my Glenwood #6 base heater, and 118 Oaks are not all cast iron. They use single layer, rolled sheet metal to form the sides and back of the barrel.

Sheet metal or thin steel (or just steel in general) is flexible, cast iron isnt. Cast iron breaks under stress. Most buyers or sellers wont know the difference. Many folks here would. Dont get too greedy with your asking price or you'll own it a long time, years.

I saw one like that for sale at Fairfield Antiques Mall, and it had $550 for a price on it. I went back a few months later and it had been sold.
I considered buying it, so I thought your $600 was a fair price.
Katie and I would like a wood burning kitchen range, just so we can put it on our porch for those really hot days when you do not want to fire up the oven or stove inside the house. I only mention this, in case you get an interesting person in it, you might be able to use a summer kitchen as a selling point.

Do the first two numbers denote manufacture year?
