Just picked this up on my return trip from R.I. Cribben & Sexton: Elegant Universal No.169. It appears to be complete including the crank/lid tool. Plus a 36"×36" stove mat. Got it home and started to clean it out and inspect it. I will post pics and welcome your thoughts, input, knowledge, and anything else.

Haven't yet got it all put together. In the last pic: is the plate separating the ash chamber and baseburn chamber removable? If it is removable, its stuck.

The plate you are referring to is sandwiched between the front, both side and back walls. Putting all that back together all at one time is the fun part.

1st of all, thanks for responding. So the plate is not designed to be removed to make cleaning out the flue passage easier like on a Glenwood baseburner?

I WAS going to use this in my home. But the flue exit sits higher than the chiminey opening. I was told NOT to route the exhaust down and then up the chiminey. Unless I set it up in front of the hearth of the chiminey. Which will buy me 7". I guess I can remove the elbow on the back of the stove and run the exhaust straight back then up.

I personally would remove the elbow and go straight out, then up.

You should have two small removable base chamber clean out doors on the back of the stove just above the nickel base.

This is the only door is see. The back has no doors. But, along each side there appears to be "heat vents"???

The last pic above with the little oval door ,below ash pan floor is your only base chamber clean out door.

Unless you remove the bustle, then there should be lots of room for a sweeper hose, that is a PITA. And requires more work and furnace recementing.

Edit. Two of my baseburners have the clean out door above the base in the front. One has clean out door in the bustle in the back.

You even have special slots below the doors to poke clinkers with your poker.

You probably won't need to use them. The duplex/ clam shell grates are often called clinker less grates.

Dual handled, dual action grates are pretty handy.
