Mtnbugy, thanks for the specific details and also on what to look for. Especially since it is sitting on the ash pan chamber.

Does the missing cover you mentioned go on top of the opening in the picture?

What are the acorns you mentioned??

Most everyone on this forum know so much about these wonderful stoves; what would be a fair price for it?

The acorns are the small covers that are threaded on top of the door hinge pins.

Yes, the oval hole on the top of the stove behind the swing top would eit her have an oval stove pipe attached that ran up to the second floor, or a nickel plated cover similar to this one.

If I were making an offer on that stove it would be in the $500 to $600 range.

Thank you. Much appreciated.
Spoke with the seller. He told me the owner of the stove owned the Kingston Place homestead in Vermont.
He also told me the the old fellow was very meticulous and had the stove sent out to be restored somewhere in Massachusetts.

Ouch. Another retirement stove. I need a Xanax and some Preparation H.

Lol. I could probably use the xanax.
Is it just me, or do the Ebay pics of the stove look cleaner. Whereas, the pics of the interior the stove looks more used ...dirty? Where it reads "Ringgold" the nickel appears more tarnished or discolored.

For those of you who have purchased a stove from any of the handful of shops that restore them, are the interior parts usually addressed and/or cleaned up, painted, etc.

The stove looks awfully dirty for having been reconditioned and only fired up a few times. Am I being too discerning?

Fox, A quality restoration, the inside should be as pretty as the outside within reason.

That ringgold looks like it has been years since the restoration.

A quality priced stove better look like a quality restoration, not a bum in a cheap suit.

A quality restoration by Brian S.
This is a 3-5k restoration.
