I use the same Turtle brand paste wax on my stove parts as I use on my customer's cars. That has worked well on the nickeled parts of my kitchen range, but those parts were done with nickel plating that had brighteners.

Doesn't the wax melt or get blotchy when the stove is in use?

After my last restore, I have not put a fire into it :-). I might be tempted if I lived in Alaska, but I would hate replacing the mica and restoring everything again. It took a couple years the last time :-).

The Wicked Metal Polish Professional Formula (yellow bottle stuff) comes off fine with Dawn dishwasher soap (the blue stuff).

Try a bottle; I suspect you will be impressed.

I ordered a bottle. So it's a cleaner and polish in one or should it be cleaned with a mild detergent and water prior to application of wicked metal polish.

Thanks sunny. I'm going to use that wicked metal polish to give it a good cleaning and finish it off with the wax.
