coal size?????

i have a keley columbian cook stove what size coal shud i use in it nut doesan't work well...

I burn nut in both mine. Tried stove n was real pita. Wouldnt happen to have pictures would ya.

You can use the larger size stove coal, but it will cut down on how long the range can run on a full load. It may not make it though the night without going out by morning.

All I use is nut coal, and for 14 years now I run my range 9 months of the year..... including on days when it's gotten up to 80F outside.

Most ranges do well with nut coal. When there's a problem using nut coal it's usually because of a low draft chimney, warped cooktop plates leaking air over the firebed, air leaks into the stove flues, grates that don't clear ash well, or a combination of any of those.

Can you post pix of the grates and your stove/chimney setup ? What type and how tall is the chimney ?

hi paul well i think u hit the nail on the head...chim height...stove is out in the garage and chim not that high...have to have the air wide open to get it to burn...not much heat coming from it..think ill raise the chimanother 4 feet by adding 3 chim block a flue liner and add a piece of pipe to the top of the flue liner...will work on that this spring...i was thinking that all along..old brick layer here so no problem...thanks for ur input ill get her going...B,B.

Heres one i have at shop. Chimney is short so stove is sluggish to gets roalin then she makes heat.

me old dummy bricklYER DONT KNOW HOW....JUST A simple cook stove,,,4 round plates lever to open and close draft over and around oven...flat plate unremovable over oven..
