Stains on soapstone on a Crane 404?

- Other Heating: New Yorker oil burner which almost never runs, thanks to the Tarm!
Is it possible to remove stains from the soapstone on top of a Crane 404? There is one for sale for $150 on FB Marketplace.

i have a woodstock soapstone wood stove,the soapstone is pretty thick& i have used wet& dry 400 grit paper for stains.available at auto parts stores.pine grove coal user wrote: ↑Sat. Make sure you check the fire pot!
If you need any parts, I have one with a bad fire pot and broken shaker grate. Glass is good. Not the soapstone model. I'm getting ready to retire it. Great stove.
