All I know is if this baby burns coal. The wife is gonna be so upset with me. But for a 100 bucks she'll get over it. So tell me coalpailer's, is this for wood or coal? If you say wood I will turn my nose up at it. Lol

Point your nose up, its a wood stove.

Round stoves are coal, square is for wood. In most cases.

Well you've made the wife happy. I can't do wood. Too much work. Thought I found a parlor stove. I thought it was similar to the one the late great William had in his videos. And it was literally the next town over from me for 100 buckeroos. Shoulda known better.

I noticed when I zoomed in on the pictures, just above the lower air slide it says 'wood parlor no 22'.

Round Oak Duplex is the only antique squarish stove that comes to mind with coal grates.
Most of the modern stoves have elongated grates, is the antique round-ness just a desired form or was/is there a functional reason?

No grates just a flat bottom/base pan they were filled with sand to protect the bottom from over heating they are certainly wood only stoves

That’s a Cherub Glenwood, a desirable stove when restored. Some were made with a return flue....Skip has one I think.

Mntbugy is right though 🤣

It's in Magnolia Delaware. $100 bucks.

The seller confirmed that it is indeed a wood stove.

Wilson had one when I was there. Yes, it has revertible flues, and yes, it's wood only. He opened it up to show me the exhaust path. And it's not a Cherub model. It's a much more rare model than the Cherubs, which often turn up on CL. I think he said it's a Model 23 ???? Ever since then I've been watching for others like it and his is the only one I've ever seen.

Yes, it is Fred. Not as decorative as the Cherub models, it's one of Glenwood's "Modern" series with simpler lines. With it's the three mica windows and revertible flues it's the only one that ever got me rethinking about burning wood again. :D

if the grates can be shaken or agitated in some way, its a coal stove, if they are fixed in place, its for wood.
