Moved over the Florence and fired up the Acorn Alert tonight. First burn to see how she does. Brian at Mill Lake did the work for me.

He or she looks real purddy.

Brian does nice work.

Might blow the Florence away, in heat value.

Congrats!!!! That's a real beauty of a stove, Paned. Made even more beautiful with the glow of a firebed showing through all those windows.

Are the griffin corner trim on the pipe from that stove ?

Hey Paul those Griffins were off an Art stove just had them laying around at the shop. Acorn didn’t have any wings on this model. My other Acorn doesn’t have wings either.

Been running for a couple days. Didn’t use magazine first night to make sure it would run safe held fire overnight easily. Now running magazine, stock firepot never lined it. Nice performance so far. Chocked it down to around 200 degrees since warm in Ohio

Question on these mica stoves...might be silly! Does the mica get dirty to the point where you need to periodically clean them all? That has to be a task, especially with a hot stove! I need to clean my C40 mica every so often.

Yes Tom, the mica gets a brown/reddish tint when running low and slow. Clears up some when it gets cranking for a couple days.

It doesn't take to long to clean 30-60 or more windows when stove is cold. Lol.

You can rub windows while hot , but you will only get the centering of window cleaner. The mica retainers makes it tuff to get in the corners.

I dampen a paper towel with white vinegar. Cleans both creosote and coal fog off mica, when hot or cold. And the paper towels form to get into the corners much better than a rag.

When done, just toss the paper towel onto the firebed. Easy-peazy.

Running my normal 12 hour routine right now. Set it at 300 last night still at 300 this morning plenty of coal left in magazine. Have the pipe dampers choked down pipe at 125 at chimney. No problem with keeping a fire I’m sure it would run 15-18 hours no problem.

Fat cat loves the new stove. Found her a new spot. Winter time is her favorite season, loves the heat.

I love the look of that stove! I'm curious how it would compare to a Glenwood 6 in terms of heat output and times between tending?

That works pretty good. Until one or two panes, out of 12 , pop out or shift.

Nothing like removing six rosetes, straighting out your boo boos and put back together will it's 500 degrees.

I don’t think the Acorn could run with a Glenwood 6. Doesn’t have nearly the surface area and a smaller pot. The Glenwood is by far one of the best all around baseburner.
