Took a 4 hour 200 mile road trip today to northern Maine and bought out a old stove shop.
One of the 30+ stoves is this chilson cone stove.

Nice find indeed ! Is the 1898 a square back or hourglass?

Remember the rule..... Without pictures ....It didn't happen. :D

Looking forward to pics of the fireplace insert too

That cone stove is so unique, it almost looks like someone's home brewed from parts. :D

Very unique stove. i love the top's style and I bet a lot of those tops got broken. It would even fit in with a mid century modern home (mid 1900's). Well ahead of its time in looks. I could not read the ad very well, size issues. What was supposed to be the advantage of the cone design?

What is the number of the cone disk stove? I have numbers 3 through 6 in my storage. I heat my shop with a number 6 and it nore than enough. They are great heaters, especially with coal. If you need parts give me a call.

Research Gardner Chilson. He invented central heating around 1831 and then went on to design a number of really great coal stoves like the Trio and the cone disk. in the 1850's. He also made one called a pyramid stove but none have ever been found. I heard rumors of one in Maine but it never has turned up. His oval base heaters form the 1870's are quite advanced. My old catalogs from heating supply houses say the cone disk is simply the best coal heater made. They were available from the original patterns right up to WW2.
