With sadness, I just learned this afternoon that William Sherrick (wsherrick) has passed away. I first met William in 2004 where we worked on the railroad together. He maintained the coal stove in the station to which I immediately became fascinated with. I fully attribute my interest in these magnificent antiques to his passion for them. His knowledge of them and of early jazz was unequaled. He had a reputation of excellence as a locomotive engineer for New Jersey Transit. He is already missed. May he rest in peace.

Wow! May he R.I.P. I’m sure he has brought many people to burn coal, and from his videos seemed like a very nice guy.

Prayers for the Sherrick family.
It was William's knowledge of these 'antique stoves' that convinced me to purchase one. Thank you, 'Sir William'-may you rest in peace.

It was apparent to me for a long time that something was amiss, though William never sought to burden others with his troubles. I have and will miss him.

I'm shocked and deeply saddened by the news.

It was just a few weeks ago that Steve and I got to spend some great quality time with William and Emery and I really looked forward to their future visit at my home.

Rest in Peace my friend, and my deepest condolences go out to Emery.

Paulie

He battled many issues and will be missed ... this is one of a series of photos as he came to dinner and we spent some treasured time together. I have a video of him touring my home and commenting on my stoves.... now I GOTTA find it.

Two of Williams stoves I now own.... He did not wish to part with them and I paid him more than he was asking as in both cases as he needed to buy coal. I just do not understand why the railroad did not look after him better in his sickness. These two are now priceless. The third photo is WS stove serving next to his big brother.

I certainly did not know him but I spent enough time reading around here to know who he was... somewhat of a legend I would say. Prayers for the Peace that passes all understanding from our family to his.

Prayers for you men here on the antique stove section especially that were his good friends. I know he was very special to all of you. Very well of him to pass on his knowledge to you all before it was lost. He gave you a wonderful gift.

Very sad news.

I'm one of the ones who's life was made better by knowing William. I used to razz him about my kitchen range being a base heater, too. He good naturedly tolerated it as long as he got some of the peach jelly made on that base heater.

As I type this, from my office chair I can see the Glenwood #6 Base Heater that he inspired me to search for. He will be missed. Prayers sent for he and his loved ones. Rest easy, William.

Paul
